There is Action and More Action
From Dr.
Masaru Emoto, the scientist and author of Water.
"I send the energy of love and
gratitude to the water and all the living creatures in the Gulf of Mexico and
its surroundings. To the whales, dolphins, pelicans, fish, shellfish,
planktons, corals, algae, and all living creatures...I am sorry. Please forgive
me. Thank you. I love you.”
Today
with the largest man-made ecological disaster in the Western World, there is
every reason for us to feel fear and powerless. When we feel powerless we can
stay in fear, search for action, or blame our leaders for not devising immediate
solutions. As much as I would like Obama to wave a magic wand and clear up the
Gulf I know he can’t. We however do have the power of positive thinking. We
have the choice of not falling into fear, spreading rumors, and sitting alone
with our fears. We can repeat Emoto’s prayer and visualize the ocean healing.
We can focus our intentions on a positive outcome. The
power of intention amplifies with groups, the more of us that join in with intention and prayer, the more powerful
the effect.
Still
magical thinking or visualizations must be followed through with action or they
stay just thinking. We can talk about what’s going on in the Gulf with friends.
We can change our use of petroleum products. Lately a number of informative
articles have been released about how petroleum is in everything we use from
food dyes, to lip balm. We can make informed choices for all that we consume.
We can choose to recycle. We can choose to buy bulk instead of prepackaged
products. We can use amazing nontoxic environmentally products that are
available “Made in America” from American ingenuity. We can make our voices
heard with our local and regional lawmakers. We can boycott BP, EXXON, and
whatever other company continues with their policies of greed, and pillage of
the earth.
When I
posted Emoto’s prayer on Facebook I was criticized for offering Magical
Thinking instead of action steps. I suggested that all action requires magical
thinking to instill a positive outcome. I have to “see” what I am doing and
“feel” that the prayer or visualization I am offering is real before I have a
clear intention. My intentions begin with magical thinking. Where does magical
thinking leave off and action begin? When I combine the power of belief, and
trusting in the goodness of the world with magical thinking I know the power of
prayer, and positive visualization. Magical thinking is not fantasizing.
Fantasizing is an escape from whatever I term as my reality, and lacks any
belief in a positive outcome. Fantasizing makes me feel powerless while magical
thinking and focusing my intentions feels empowering.
This
week’s exercise has three parts. The first part of the exercise is to say
Emoto’s prayer several times a day. Or use your own words or visualization to
help heal the Gulf. The 2nd part of the exercise is to write about
your perception of the difference between fantasizing and magical thinking.
What does it feel like for you to fantasize about a new life? How is that
different from focusing your intentions, and using the power of magical
thinking? The 3rd part is to examine the areas in your life where
you have been fantasizing change, or a new direction. Now look at how you can
change that fantasy to something more empowering. Imagine it as an intention
that leads to a single action step. That single action step will eventually
lead you towards changing your reality.
