Write to Empower Archives - Awake Alive Energetic

Awake, Alive, and Energetic

“Hidden Music”, by Rumi

The early breeze before dawn
is the keeper of secrets.
Don’t go back to sleep!

It is time for prayer; it is time to ask for
what you really need.
Don’t go back to sleep!

The door of the One who created the world
is always open.
Don’t go back to sleep!

With spring in full swing, the bees are dancing, the ants are starting their hunting, the red tulips are singing, and the oak leaves are bursting forth. Are you awake, alive and energetic today? Really! Are you fully awake, as conscious as you can be? After this long hard winter, life is busting out all over to remind you that you are an unbound, unconditioned, unrestricted Being. Only you being awake and alive can bring you to the purpose of your soul, your embodiment. When you find the courage to break through dams of denial and distraction, your soul ignites your passions. Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s the willingness to look at your fears and walk side-by-side with them. When you wake up your senses you find the courage to become more of who you really are. As you become more yourself the greater you blaze. The more you are able to contribute to the evolution of life. Today you are part of the mass of people waking up, taking a journey of empowerment. It is an amazing sight to behold.

Can you see, hear, and feel nature all around you? What is the raven saying when it flies in front of you? What is the breeze saying as it caresses your face? How alive do you want to be? Maybe you’re not ready to go sky-clad romping, or sky-diving to feel alive? Maybe your passions to feel alive include reaching out and being aware of all the people and beings you touch? Remember the phone advertisement, “Reach out and touch someone,” well they only got it part right. The truth is that it’s the genuine honesty of the “connection” that matters.  When you are genuinely caring about others, you weave a web of connection that cannot be broken. You are not awakening alone. Spirit whispers softly “I love you” through the magnificence that is Nature. There She is, with her heart on your sleeves, inviting you to lay down your fears, holding you safe as you float down the river of possibility.

Temptation toward numbness is great. Everywhere we look we are being told that the world is a fearful place. We have to protect ourselves, and we should isolate. If that is true, then why is it that so many people are searching for meaning now? The dichotomies of today says stay home and protect family and friends, yet our spirits lead us to exploring new worlds inside of ourselves. The longing to explore the stars inside of ourselves has become a universal phenomenon. Today more and more people are realizing the benefits of self-examination and a more natural lifestyle. Bookstore shelves are overflowing with self-help books, each one with “the answer”. Whether we find our answers or guidance in nature or books, what matters is that they are our answers. And it’s time that we become more awake, more aware by whatever means. As Rumi says, “Don’t go back to sleep”. We need each of our souls to burn brighter, become clearer, and make a difference in our evolution.

I am so grateful to be alive and healthier this spring! I love looking out my office window and see the greening of the field behind my house. I am awed by the gentle insistence of the hickory leaves to push their way out onto the branches. Each day there is a bit more green on the trees. My garden beckons to me like a lover that has never forgotten the caress of my hands on their body. My fingers itch to turn the earth over. I am grateful to be more myself with each week of life. The dawn breeze caressing my cheek reminds me of the sensuality in the little things I encounter every day, and tells me there are secrets to discover. The ravens invite me to accompany then on their flight. They encourage me to continue on my path to become more awake and alive with each breath.

This week’s exercise is to write about what it means to be Alive. Are you awake, alive, and energetic? What do you do in your day that especially makes you feel alive? How much time do you allow yourself to explore this feeling? Do you pinch each moment, or give yourself fully to your passions? From your writing maybe you will discover that you can wake up even more, as well as finding out what stops you from fully being who you are. When we are present to the very thing that is holding us back from expressing who we are, we stop creating excuses as to why things can’t be done. Then we begin to realize anything is possible.
