Monday Morning Coach Archives - Become the Cup of Gratitude

Become the Cup of Gratitude

Here we are in November, the official month of Thanksgiving (in the US) and for me the official month of gratitude. That's right, I believe Thanksgiving is not just about a day, it's a state of mind, a way of being, and gratitude deserves an entire month!!

So I invite you to consider a profound concept I was recently introduced to by Kim George, an amazing business and personal coach (understudy to Thomas Leonard), and creator of the Abundance Intelligence® system that is also at the foundation of the Compass coaching program. According to Kim, people living in abundance intelligence don't see the proverbial cup as half-empty, half-full or overflowing; they see themselves as the cup!

That's right you are the cup, and November is the month to explore what happens when you make that fundamental shift.

For me, shifting to "I am the cup" means I am free to bring gratitude with me, into any and every set of circumstances rather than waiting for someone or something to change so I can be grateful for it. It means truly being at the cause of gratitude rather than at the effect of circumstances and situations. It means setting loose the transformative effect of gratitude on what might be perceived as less than ideal conditions. It means freedom!!

Right now, start by acknowledging that you are the cup, and then join me in expanding this list of many things to be grateful for:

  1. I am grateful for this moment.
  2. I am grateful for my health.
  3. I am grateful for my family, exactly as it is.
  4. I am grateful for my morning cup of coffee.
  5. I am grateful for my loving pets.
  6. I am grateful for the abundant blessings from my Creator.
  7. I am grateful for the sunlight and the shadow.
  8. I am grateful for each breath.
  9. I am grateful for the laughter of children.
  10. I am grateful for the ability to exercise and move.
  11. I am grateful for the freedom to choose my attitude.
  12. I am grateful for those who have taken an oath to protect and serve.
  13. I am grateful to have this platform in which to express myself.
  14. I am grateful for those who have been loyal readers for many years or just a few weeks.
  15. I am grateful for the gifts I've been given.
  16. I'm grateful for all the things that are going right.
  17. I'm grateful for faith in something greater than myself.
  18. I'm grateful for clean water, food and clothing.
  19. I'm grateful for my friends.
  20. I'm grateful for mentors and role models who inspire me.
  21. I'm grateful for technology.
  22. I'm grateful for the seasons.
  23. I'm grateful for work that fulfills me.
  24. I'm grateful for the opportunities that are coming my way.
  25. I'm grateful for my mind.
  26. I'm grateful for everyday opportunities to grow and learn.
  27. I'm grateful for my home.
  28. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve others.
  29. I'm grateful for those who have served me selflessly.
  30. I'm grateful for you, whoever and wherever you are.

Take some time today, right now to add to the list with your own "gratitudes."

If it's true that we tend to attract more of what we focus on, can any of us afford to be any less than complete, overflowing cups of gratitude in everything we think, say and do? I'm especially grateful for Kim George and her principles of Abundance Intelligence® which you can read more about at Kim's website, www.coachingintogreatness.com. Let's start a gratitude revolution this week, one grateful thought, one day at a time.

Have a "great-full" week,
