Get Over It and Get On With It!
Here it is
Monday…again, and you’re probably carrying around something from the past week,
month or even year that’s standing in the way of achieving the results and
success you want. Could be the memory of the time you didn’t “do it”
right. Maybe it’s the irritation you haven’t gotten past over some
slight, or a conversation you had with someone that went sour and you keep
building the case against you or them. Could it be that grudge you’ve
held for way too long. It’s the mindless repetition of the phrase, “I
don’t know what to do.” It’s all of that or something else.
Well just
how long do you intend to let that old stuff run your life and condition the
results you’re getting? Can you really afford to let your precious energy
be drained by something that happened “then”?
Who cares
if you tried once, twice or fifty times and weren’t successful? What’s
the payoff for holding onto that irritation or unforgiving thought? What
are you getting from “licking” that old wound, bringing it up yet again as if
it’s the defining moment of your life? It sounds crazy doesn’t it?
Because it is crazy!!
This week,
it’s time for you to get
over it and get on with it!! This message is just as much
for me today as it is for you. I can’t tell you how often I’ve replayed
the same old tired mantras of un-success and limitation for myself. I
know from having coached many, many people over the years how often you may be
doing the same thing.
Well ladies
and gentlemen it’s a brand new day. Do you really, I mean REALLY want to
stay where you are? Then it’s time to let go of the garbage and get on
with the greatness that is waiting for you.
You may be
sitting there saying, okay Betty, that’s “easy” for you to say. But tell
me what to do to let go of the old stuff!! So here are five keys to help
you “get over it and get on with it” this week.
1)
Decide and commit to something bigger and better. We will never
move forward if we don’t have a compelling picture of the future.
Describe your vision in detail. Write a “back to the future” letter
describing where you’ll be one year from now. Cut out pictures of what
you want to create, attract, attain and put them on your dream board. If
you can see it, you can be it!
2)
List the top five excuses you need to give up in order to attain your vision. Now look at
what you’ve written. Is that really true or is it simply
something you’ve repeated so often it “sounds” true because it’s so
familiar. Here are some samples of common excuses:
3)
Replace those statements with something that excites and empowers you to move
forward anyway.
You’re essentially re-writing the script or the story that runs you. Will
the transformation happen overnight? Not likely. But it will happen
sooner rather than later if you start now, today. Begin reviewing your
vision and affirmations regularly. Surround yourself with reminders that
provide “evidence” for the new reality rather than the old one.
4)
When the old garbage starts up (it will for a while), don’t resist it; instead
replace it with one of your new beliefs. Instead of “She always does so and so and she
knows it irritates me,” start saying, “That’s her stuff, how I choose to react is my stuff.”
Or, “I am responsible for
how I react to what others say.” Just saying the three little
words, “I am responsible” is enough to make me stand up straighter, hold
my head higher and remember how very true and empowering those words are.
5)
Give yourself credit for little wins. If you managed to maintain
your cool when another driver cut you off, that counts. If you made the
decision to truly forgive someone, that counts big time! If you made the
call to the person you’ve been avoiding to clean up something that’s been
dogging you, bravo!! Look for the evidence that you are changing, that
you are bigger than some petty annoyance; that you’re more courageous than you
believed you were yesterday and that you’re more than enough to “get over it
and get on with it!”
Really,
isn’t this the perfect day to get over it and get on with it? Isn’t this
the best time ever to stop letting the past stop you from creating a great
future? Isn’t this the #1 opportunity you need to step out in confidence
toward the dream or goal you’ve talked about forever?
I don’t
know what’s kept you from living into your greatness so far. I only know
what’s kept me (and a lot of it I’ve written about in this week’s message), and
I’ve made a decision: I’m ready to get over it and get on with it! Today
is the day; now is the time.
Say yes to
living inspired!!
