Going the Extra Mile
I was on my way home traveling back to Vegas this week after a long weekend away. As I was traveling, there was fog and a bit of rain (hard to believe all the rain in the desert – another story!).
Through the fog, there was a slight clearing of sunshine and blue skies on one side of the street – with the other side still dense with the fog, but through it, I saw the most beautiful rainbow. As you may know, I marvel at nature’s awesome beauty and this spectacular rainbow inspired me to write this post for this week.
As I traveled a bit further down the winding mountain/desert road, the rainbow was no longer visible. It became completely foggy again. I noticed a couple parked on the side of the highway more than likely taking a travel break from driving through the dense fog. My thoughts turned to the rainbow and if the couple would have just gone an extra mile, they would have witnessed nature’s brilliancy. By the time the couple probably resumed their trip and ventured forward, the rainbow would probably have disappeared.
Are you cutting yourself short from going the extra mile? Do you feel like you have done all you can do and it’s time to rest? Do you stop short because you think maybe this is the end of the road and you can’t push yourself any further to go the distance? Do you feel like life is as dismal as the dense fog and rain?
Next time, take a leap of faith in life AND yourself. Know that you are capable of going that extra mile no matter how hard things may seem. Keep pushing through even if you think you may be almost there but just not quite. Don’t give up!
It really can seem to be the darkest before the dawn but go the extra mile in all aspects of your life and the results can be absolutely breathtaking! You’ll find what you have been missing out on!
