Reveling in the Joy of Revelation
Eileen Cady, “Cease trying to work everything out with your minds. It will get you nowhere. Live by Intuition and Inspiration and let your whole life be a Revelation.” Can we trust ourselves and our souls enough to let our lives be based on joy and revelation? Revelation: the revealing of something previously hidden or secret, a surprising good or valuable experience, a showing of what is believed to be truth or divine will. Revelation is living in the flow, surrendering when there is struggle, and letting go when there is pain. Often when we are struggling with a person, place, or thing, we believe we have to be “right”. When we are caught in struggling to prove something, or trying to control a situation we have choices to make. Do we continue the struggle, or let go and know more will be revealed?
Just to live our daily lives we believe we have to anticipate, plan ahead and focus on thinking up solutions. We spend inordinate amount of time being in our heads thinking, thinking, and thinking. No wonder we get headaches! Then we are told that to be a whole person we must meditate and be in touch with our feelings and live in our hearts. Often our hearts are telling us one thing and our heads are telling us to do something else. How do we determine whether thinking or feeling our way through a particular situation is the right method? Do we always know the difference? Imagine that at any given moment there is path to use both our hearts and our heads. When we accept that both offer us information we can utilize that information to make better choices and live more in joy and revelation.
Lately I have been realizing that life can be joyful and consistently really great. That may not sound like a big deal to many of you, however for me learning the lessons of revelation have been bumpy, at best. I have been a master at anticipating trouble and worrying over details. I am really good at fighting for what I think is right. None of these behaviors bring me peace or the joy of revelation. I am also very good with focusing intention and I have manifested some very wonderful things in my life. Each time a great manifestation happened I was totally open to revelation. Today I remember to surrender. More will be revealed, and life's easier that way.
This week’s exercise involves becoming aware of revelation in our lives. The first part is to write on a piece of paper a current struggle or issue you have. After you finish, fold that piece of paper up as many times as you want, and put it in a special place in your house. The second part of the exercise is to set aside a specific block of time to just “be” with you. Make a plan to do something relaxing, like going to a park, or sitting in your garden, or playing or listening to your favorite music. When you find yourself worrying over or going back to try and figure out a solution bring yourself back to what you are doing. Thoroughly enjoy the sun on your face, or the sounds of people laughing or talking, or let your body go and just feel the music. At the end of your time write down how you are feeling, and what that experience was like. The third part of the exercise is to go the following day and unfold what you wrote. Is something being revealed to you that was previously hidden? Can you find the surprising good in the issue now?
