Note Worthy Musings With Brenda Stanton Archives - Seeing Yourself Differently

Seeing Yourself Differently

As part of the Claim Your Worth!® metamorphosis process, there is always the un-comfortableness of giving up the version of the woman you knew yourself to be all these years and allowing yourself to accept the woman you’ve always dreamed of becoming.

And this is the critical piece that many don't initially grasp because it isn't that the transformation is a cognitive event that you can just make-up. Rather, the transformation happens as a result of efforting the Real You into existence.

Imagine for a moment that there is one area in your life that you’ve always dreamed of transforming  whether its work, health, relationships, fun & recreation, etc.  Whatever it is, imagine the dream that you have for this area. Now, begin to think about the secret thoughts you have in regard to it  and allow those thoughts and visions to come into consciousness.

Now, imagine if those visions and dreams continue to elude you year after year after year that you could be operating from a Sense of Self that is outdated and ready to expire.

What I mean is, most of us don’t realize that our hearts desire the dreams we dream and that we may be too embarrassed to tell anyone about because they are so far-out and lofty. They are just the dreams that a part of ourselves (a very young part) don’t believe could ever really come true for us because of that old “Sense of Self” – that outdated version of who you’ve known yourself to be all these years.

Think about it. Imagine if you dream of being amazingly in-shape, yet you grew-up feeling like an outcast who got picked last on every team in gym class. Or, you envision traveling to foreign countries to explore their cultures, but you aren’t making nearly enough money to pay your bills and are tied down to a job that doesn’t allow you to live that way.

Can you see how an outdated Sense of Self could allow you to make decisions based on who you believe yourself to be, rather than embrace the truth about who you are?

Most of us don’t realize that in certain areas of our lives were operating from a very, very young part of ourselves who believes that were just not good enough based on certain experiences we had in childhood.

And these experiences don’t need to be necessarily traumatic, but they can be traumatic enough to prevent you from living your dreams. These everyday traumas show-up in life as a strong, unconscious commitment to play it safe, don’t rock the boat, don’t be vulnerable, don’t open up, don’t take risks, etc.  because this part of you believes that - if you do step-out and transform and reveal the Real You, you’ll get hurt, be humiliated, fail, etc.

Yet, your heart tells you differently. Your heart longs for those new experiences  it longs for growth and evolution  it longs for adventure, fun, romance, passion, and a life that is fulfilled and meaningful.

So how do you manifest that life when your old Sense of Self tells you that it just isn’t in the cards for you; that you weren’t brought-up that way; that you need to settle for who you deeply believe yourself to be - and just leave it at that?

How you transform and Claim Your Worth!® is through effort  and I don’t mean hard, back-breaking, effort  I mean allowing effort  allowing yourself to become the You that you desire to become, and then every single day making the effort to reveal that version of you to the world  in a variety of little ways.

Think of it this way, every single day you make ten million little decisions that make up your day and reinforce who you believe yourself to be. Now, as you become more aware of what decisions your making that are either holding the old you in place  vs. embracing the Real, Authentic You, it’s now your choice to allow HER to emerge, or continue to keep HER hidden.

As always, it always boils down to choice, your choice. Choose wisely!
