How Much Do Cultural Differences Play In A Relationship Being A Success Or Not?
Cultural differences
can sometimes turn out to be a big deal. I remember when I was 25 and working
in a French restaurant one of the waiters, Philippe who was from Nice, took a
liking to me. We went out as friends and I liked being with him and practicing
my French. One day he told me that he had romantic feelings for me and wanted
to take our relationship to the next level. I had to say no because although he
was very sweet and sexy, he had told me on another occasion that when he would
be married one day, he planned to have a mistress. He said that his father
always had a mistress and he planned to do the same. Well, that was a cultural
difference that was a deal breaker for me. When getting involved with someone
from another country or culture it is a good idea to find out what their
customs or expectations are when it comes to romantic relationships, marriage
and possibly raising children so that you can make sure that you are both on
the same page and comfortable with everything.
The Guy I’m Dating Hasn’t Said, “I Love You” Yet. Should I Tell Him?
No, don’t be the one
to say it first. Once you say it, it’s put out there and if he doesn’t return
the sentiment, oh boy, it will be awkward from then on. If it has been more
than six months and he can’t say, “I love you” then consider moving on. Don’t
waste your time. Chances are, if he can’t tell you he loves you, he won’t marry
you either.
